My little sister is getting married! The wedding is in June, so we threw her a bridal shower yesterday at my home. We decided to have a bit of a "green" theme. I asked guests not to wrap presents, we used cloth napkins, and real plates and glasses. It was a great day, even if it was a little chilly!
We greeted guests at the door with a reassuring sign that they were in the right place: the invitation!
The Gerber daisies in mason jars did double duty as the decorations and favors. They were so colorful and really looked amazing in the house. We had 25 of them sprinkled throughout the dining room, kitchen and living room.
I also made runners and napkins using fabric from my sister's wedding colors - bright pink, green, and orange. They covered the dining table, drink station, media console, and gift tables. I don't usually deal with a lot of bright colors, but I love the energy they added to the house.
As I mentioned, I made cloth napkins for the shower as well. I wanted to make sure that people knew where to get them and put them once they were used, so I bought two pails from Micheal's in bright colors. I added cute tags to them and it worked great!
To add a really personal touch, I had photos of my sister from childhood displayed around the house. I also made small flags using a toothpick and copied photos to stick into the cupcakes. They were adorable, and a big hit!
I was honored to throw this shower for my sister and so thrilled that she enjoyed it. Its the first shower that I've ever hosted, but I had a lot of fun thinking of ideas to decorate and make the shower both personal and eco-friendly. It was great to end the party with all of the dishes in the dishwasher and hardly any trash in the can! Have you gone to any fun showers lately? I hear that this no gift wrap thing is getting popular - and I'm a big fan! Have you gone to a shower like that? What did you think?
