A Season of Giving

Once again, school has gotten the best of me when it comes to having any free time to blog. I've still been busy doing some projects, they just haven't been for my own home.

I actually spent the first weekend of school selling items at a craft fair. It was a good learning experience and I've gotten a little bit of business from it. My biggest sellers have been the bridal hangers. There are about a zillion people that make these on etsy, so I don't have them listed there. For those of you that don't know about these yet, they are the perfect prop for a bride to use for the obligatory photos of the wedding dress before the wedding. They add some personality to the photo instead of just using the hanger that the dress came on.

The next thing that I made recently was for a friend's mom to give as a gift at a bridal shower. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the frame is about 3 feet wide. I used my sisters cricut - how do I not have one of those yet? - to cut the letters out of scrapbook paper. Then I glued them onto a piece of wrapping paper and framed it up. It came out so sweet and I can't wait to hear what the bride thinks of it!

The last gift I made recently was for a friend of mine that teaches third grade. This is the same friend that I made the crate seats for, which her kids are loving, by the way. I was trying to think of something personal and homemade to give her for her birthday. Of course, I turned to Pinterest and found inspiration. Please excuse the horrible photos. I was in a bit of a rush and didn't think to leave the poorly lit kitchen to snap a few pictures.
This was a pretty simple project that only involved crayons, hot glue, and card stock. Thanks to the advice of my wonderful husband, I put the crayons in the microwave for about 20 seconds before trying to cut them. This softened them up just enough to make it easier to cut them with regular scissors. I placed the crayons where I wanted them and then marked each crayon where it needed to be cut. Then it was just cut, glue and repeat. I ended up only needing thirty crayons, which was perfect since it was a 30th birthday gift!

I popped it into a shadow box and was good to go! Again, I apologize for the cruddy picture. I wasn't thinking about blogging when I took them.
So there you have it. This is what has been keeping me busy lately... well besides teaching! I can't believe we're only a few weeks into the year. It seems like we've been working for months!

If you need any gifts for showers or anniversaries, or even Christmas - let me know. I'd love to make something for you to give as a gift!

Thanks for reading,
Kathleen
